When DNV revised the DNV 2.7-1 Certification Note, the most extensive changes were made in the lifting sling requirements. The sling is a four or five legged wire rope lifting sling fitted with a quad assembly and shackles. Each component of the lifting sling is specified to the capacity of the container.
The sling is the most critical component to safety in transporting the container from the vessel to the offshore platform. The unique sling design allows for safety even during the inclement weather conditions often encountered offshore while off-loading the containers.
According to DNV 2.7-1:2006 and 2013 Standard, "Only lifting sets approved and certified by the Society (Det Norske Veritas) shall be used on certified offshore containers" (p. 25Standard for Certification No. 2.7-1 Offshore Containers April 2006).

US Federal requirements specify Crosby Safety Pin Bow Shackles as supplied with our containers. Our shackles are supplied with the critical safety pin that is not found on most shackles in order to maximize safety in all conditions.
